Communiqué From The Club President

Attached is the latest input from the committee, I am sure we would all rather receive, news of events, rabbits, tigers, ladies and juniors and the minutes of the meetings, after all that was the reason for this site in the first place. However it's a start, lets hope it continues.

At least we have up to date weather (more rain), competitions and results.

A message from Messrs Pawson and Hatfield

This message has been sent on behalf of Brian Pawson who does not have access to the internet.

Ian and I would like to thank all those members present at the ball draw on Monday evening for the unanimous vote of support given to Norman Simpson in his position in charge of Handicaps & Competitions.

Norman has performed these difficult and sometimes thankless duties for the past 2 years and is, in our opinion, the best Handicap & competitions secretary This club has ever had. We want him to continue in this post.

We are pleased to announce that after the unanimous support the membership gave Norman on Monday evening he has agreed to continue in his position However, he will not serve on the committee as he feels that it does not fully support him.

Brian Pawson. Ian Hatfield

Latest news from the ball draw.

Prior to the draw the Captain addressed the members present , He informed them Norman Simpson Had resigned from the committee and his position as Handicap secretary following a disagreement with the committee on Monday night citing members hasseling Norman

Mr Pawson held discussions with Norman during the past week and eventually Norman agreed to resume his duties as handicap secretary, subject to having full control of all matters to do with this position and provided the members agreed to his proposal.

A vote was taken of the members present and a unanimous vote for Norman was the result

During the following euphoria and general bon homme, the expected vote of no confidence in the committee was forgotten and prior to the ball draw the captain did an Elvis and left the building.

So following a week of no information from the committee we are still at square one. The club constitution is in the archive section of this website and explains about extraordinary general meetings. We will continue to try and get an explanation from the committee to explain their undemocratic actions and hopefully get them to face the members for approval. Are they in the real world ? Norman knows the reason he resigned. We know the reason, yet the committee say it is a different reason.

I will contact Norman and see if he will give us the facts.

I am sure he will, but what dreadful things have gone on that such secrecy is necessary. Once again I ask the committee to provide an explanation of their actions and if they are all whiter than white, why not ask the members for a vote of confidence?

Casino Night

A great success this weekend was the Casino Night. The first time anything of this nature has been tried at Lofthouse.

47 members enjoyed a great night of fun and gambling all be it with funny money. The numbers look quite low but in fact due to the nature of the evening the event could not have handled very many more.

The Top lady Mrs Irene Hatfield and the top Gentleman a guest of the club walked away with £150.00 each.

All who attended are looking forward to a re-run of the event in the early part of next year. Thanks to the entertainment committee for organising the event.

Sunday 10th August 2008

Almost one week now, since Norman resigned, and still no word from the committee on their proposals for the future.

For the benefit of newly registered members, following some unsavoury incidents Two committee members resigned and this site asked for an update of their reaction to this news and their plans for the future.

It emerged undemocratic members of the golf club had forced the resignation of the two concerned and were attempting to ridicule the story and keep every one in the Dark.

Over the weekend this web site has been accused of stirring up a non existent situation, but I will ask all reasonably people this. If we had not broken the news who would?

Please may I remind the membership, this web site was set up by the previous editor to keep the members informed and have news results and archives available to every one all in one place. Any person is free to make up their own mind what one believes and I do not force anyone to log on to this site. All the items presented are true and published in good faith. I took over editing the site because I believed the members , many of whom work away, would like to keep in touch. It is a shame your committee have totally ignored the site, with notable exceptions, and tried to shut it down. It is up to you, if you want the site to continue let me know. If you don't, let me know.

Finally, Lets hope in the future you get a committee you deserve.
